How Chi'Va Works

A structured session from preparation through closure.

Chi'Va guides users through a defined sequence intended to reduce cognitive load, support orientation, and preserve a clear beginning, middle, and end.

The platform is self-directed. It does not diagnose, create treatment plans, provide emergency support, or replace provider-delivered care.

Session Structure

Chi'Va keeps the user oriented throughout the session.

Each session follows a structured sequence rather than asking the user to remember the entire process independently.

Prepare

Establish readiness and support

Preparation
The user reviews grounding, containment, the intended focus, and whether proceeding is appropriate.

Assess

Define the session focus

Assessment
The user identifies the selected memory or concern, associated cognition, distress, body awareness, and preferred positive cognition.

Process

Move through guided bilateral focus

Processing
The user follows structured bilateral sets and repeated check-ins while noticing changes in thoughts, sensations, and emotional material.

Close

Complete the session deliberately

Closure
The user returns to body awareness, grounding, containment, and closure before leaving the session.

Guided Flow

A clear progression through the session.

Chi'Va organizes the session into defined phases so the user is not left to decide what should happen next.

01

History and focus

The user selects the focus of the session and identifies relevant context without creating a clinical record.

02

Preparation

The user reviews grounding, containment, bilateral options, and the ability to pause or stop.

03

Assessment

The user identifies the image, negative cognition, preferred positive cognition, subjective distress, and body location.

04

Desensitization

The user completes bilateral sets and notices what changes without being asked to force a particular outcome.

05

Installation

The user returns to the preferred positive cognition and notices how strongly it feels connected to the selected focus.

06

Body scan

The user notices remaining tension, activation, or discomfort before proceeding toward closure.

07

Closure

The user completes containment, grounding, and a deliberate end to the session.

08

Reevaluation

At a future session, the user may review what changed and determine whether the focus requires further work.

Session Measures

Use structured ratings to notice change.

Chi'Va uses established session language to help users observe their experience without treating the ratings as diagnosis or clinical proof.

SUDS

Subjective distress

0–10
The user may rate current distress on a 0–10 scale to notice movement during the session.

VOC

Positive cognition validity

1–7
The user may rate how true the preferred positive cognition feels on a 1–7 scale.

Body Awareness

Notice physical activation

Somatic
The user identifies where tension or activation is present and observes whether it changes.

Bilateral Options

Provide structured bilateral focus without prescribing one method.

Users may select an available bilateral option based on what feels workable and appropriate in the moment.

Visual

Guided eye movement

Visual
A visual target moves from side to side while the user keeps the head still and follows with the eyes.

Tactile

Butterfly Hug

Tapping
The user alternates tapping across the upper arms or shoulders at a comfortable pace.

Tactile

Alternating knee taps

Tapping
The user alternates tapping the knees or thighs while remaining seated and oriented.

Professional Role

Separate platform guidance from provider responsibility.

Chi'Va can support structure and self-directed practice, but professional judgment remains outside the platform.

Platform Boundaries

Be precise about what Chi'Va does not do.

Clear limits are part of responsible provider communication and implementation.

Diagnosis

No diagnosis

Boundary
Chi'Va does not determine whether a person has a mental-health or medical condition.

Treatment

No treatment planning

Boundary
Chi'Va does not select treatment, prescribe care, or make clinical recommendations.

Crisis

No crisis or emergency response

Boundary
Chi'Va is not designed to respond to immediate danger, crisis, or medical emergency.

Human Care

No provider replacement

Boundary
Chi'Va does not replace licensed care, professional judgment, or the provider-client relationship.

Safety & Information Boundary

Use Chi'Va within an appropriate support system.

Chi'Va is a structured self-directed platform, not emergency support or clinical supervision.

Use Chi'Va within an appropriate support system.

A user should stop if they feel unsafe, unable to remain grounded, or unable to complete closure. The provider gateway must not be used to submit client names, diagnoses, treatment notes, case records, session records, or other personal health information.

Professional Evaluation

Continue with evidence, resources, or a direct inquiry.

Review the research context, explore provider materials, or tell Chi'Va about your professional setting.
